THE AWARD
Awards are made to children who have shown incredible courage battling to overcome illness, handicap, or other adversities.
THE AWARD
Awards are made to children who have shown incredible courage battling to overcome illness, handicap, or other adversities.
All have received the holiday of a lifetime, the toy or computer of their dreams for example, but it is perhaps the Braveheart Crystal, recognising they are indeed special children, which they value most.

Every year numerous Awards are made to our nominees. One of the striking features of all the children Brave Hearts has helped is the fact that each of them sees nothing remarkable about their struggle to overcome adversity.... because for each "Brave Heart", it is simply a part of their everyday life.

As a final tribute … many of the children recognized by Bravehearts were so ill that they have not survived their illnesses, including Joanne herself, who died in 1993.
The video shows our Patron Mark Knopfler presenting one of our nominees Bradley Downes with his well deserved Braveheart Award, backstage at his 2008 World Tour concert.

Held annually, the Bravehearts Awards Presentations are a special day where friends, family, nurses and of course our nominees all gather together to celebrate the children's bravery. Presentations are made at high profile venues such as St. James Park and the Stadium of Light as well as in hospitals in the region.
The children chosen to receive awards along with their immediate families and friends are invited to attend. Celebrities such as Peter Beardsley, Mike Williamson and Stephen Taylor join us to make the presentations to the thrilled children.
